When it comes to music, hip hop is one of the most popular and for twenty years it has been that way. Hip hop has it's own set of rhythms and sounds which makes its beat pattern one of a kind.

The moment you hear it you know it's a hip hop beat and there will be no confusion about it. Unfortunately, there a lot of hip hop beats out there but they are not all classified as being sick. When someone says that a beat is sick they are simply saying that the beat is of high quality standards.

There is no magic to making sick beats but if you don't know the basics on how to produce a standard beat then you will never be able to make sick beats. To help you succeed at making sick beats take a look at 3 of the basic things you need to know that will improve the quality of your beat production.

1. Audio Loops: This is by far one of the main elements of a hip hop beat and you should take great care when laying down your audio loops. Audio loops can be tweaked to give you the sound your looking for. Loops can be compressed, stretched, and you can add effects with plug ins.

2. Midi Drum Pattern: Another important element when producing these kinds of beats is the MIDI drum pattern. In most cases the drums are a pattern of MIDI notes that corresponds to sample hits. Having more than one drum loop playing at once is common in hip hop. It's okay to add as many drum patterns as you desire, just as long as they go together and enhance the beat.

3. Bassline: A bassline is very important to making a sick hip hop beat and if you haven't started, then you should begin using them in your production. Usually the basslines are thick, low, and usually have a sub bass element.

When you use these 3 tips and practice them you will become a better beat maker. Then after a while you will be making sick hip hop beats a lot easier
