Rain- seems like that's what we got for almost the entire summer! At what point did New York and Seattle trade places and I had no idea?

Since rain was the topic du-jour this past June/July it makes me recall a seminar on Branding I viewed given by Ben Mack which I think had the title: "How to Be a Rainmaker" so something like that.

Over the next bunch of articles or so I will attempt to cover some of the crucial parts of this seminar which was comprised of three primary sections: 1) How to make lightning Strike, 2) How to keep the lightning striking and 3) Bottling your lightning.

For those of you not aware of Dr. Ben Mack, he is among the principal authorities on Branding today in the USA. He has worked at over 14 different Ad agencies over his memorable professional undertakings and was a Vice President for Brand strategy for a very large corporation.

In essence, what that means was he was in charge of a " billion dollar account (that's correct, I said " billion or 500 million dollars)! Do you think he knows what he is doing? I most certainly do, and not only has he worked magic for the many businesses he has worked for, he is also a professional magician who at the age of 19 was the youngest beneficiary of the Award of Merit given by the magic castle.

For those alien to the concept of what a rainmaker is, a rainmaker is someone indian shaman not withstanding who instead of insuring a good harvest for his people brings increased revenue to his company by the use of his or her political connections, ability to attract clients therfore making the people he works for money.

As a marketer your cheif duty is to "up sell" people on their experience or understanding of reality. In Ben Mack's book "Think Two Products Ahead" he talks about how effective branding really only occurs only when people think two products ahead rather than just thinking here and now and to build a successful relationship with your clients or customers through your Brand. The section where Ben teaches how to construct your Legend Platform is worth much more than the price of the book itself!

The "Brand" (called YOU) is built by using legends or tales that are told over and over and gain strenght with time. These stories should be permitted to say the opposite of what the others say and will increase as the stories get older. So, if you had to make a choice of the type of story you use to make your business sparkle like a diamond (you are reading articles like this to help you right?) why not let them be legends. A Legendary business is a profitable one!
