Now that you have made up your made about getting an online degree, there are other things to be considered. If you have already decided which to take among several online training courses out there, you may now be faced with some concerns about getting a job later. Will employers in the industry of your choice here and abroad recognize your chosen field in online studies? How will you be able to include this confidently in your resume?

There are several long distance learning institutions which may offer the degree you are want, but what about its quality of its learning environment? Another thing to consider is its legitimacy. In 2003, USA Today reported of roughly 400 establishments operating by providing online training and selling fake degrees. You would not want to land on such an inconvenient state, so consider the good and the bad side of getting a degree online.

Because of the scams by distance learning companies, employers are questioning the authenticity of online degrees. Specifically, they are apprehensive about the curriculum, content and environment established by these learning institutions, and its effect on a student.

To avoid the speculation and questioning on the quality and validity of these online training centres, the National Education Board of the US Government has appointed six accreditation agencies to monitor, evaluate and provide licenses to operate. These agencies look into the quality of education provided, and set them apart from bogus schools.

Nowadays, well-known international evaluating agencies team up with the US accreditation companies to accredit the courses offered by e-learning institutions. Apart from the accreditation, the institutions are competing to be known as the best distance education provider. They ensure the conducive-ness and comfort of learning through features such as virtual classrooms and online libraries.

Apart from the government-appointed agencies, there are also specialized licensing agencies that accredit only on particular online programs, focusing on the course curriculum and its contents. This is to ensure that these programs meet the standards of superior education quality.

Many employers rely on the fact that a distance learning company where an applicant has obtained their degree is accredited by a government-appointed agency. Graduates and even parents of potential online learners feel more assured of an online training qualification if the institution is duly accredited.

Before you embark on a rather unconventional, educational journey, be sure you verify if the institution of your choice has, in fact, an accreditation from the US Department of Education. Also, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation is a non-government organization that authorizes agencies to accredit training programs in America. They also create policies and study trends and issues on accreditation, so you may consult them as well.

Employers are bound to eye your resume with scepticism initially, when they see that you have listed your online degree there. But they will, most likely not trash your application right away, without finding out whether or not your degree is authentic. They do have their own procedures to verify the validity and accreditation of your chosen online program and centre, but it would greatly put employers at ease, if you are detail and specific in your resume. Be sure to list down learning outcomes, course accreditation and how your credentials are relevant to the position you are applying for.
