Are we living in a science fiction fantasy world? By all appearances we are not, until you start reading about the latest technological advances. The newest inventions and applications are constantly changing the way we live, do business, interact, etc. Just years ago, some of these advances would have been unimagined, at least at the consumer availability level.

One might find it hard to imagine a world where modern gadgets and devices did not exist. The amazing thing is that these new technologies are not just consigned to the laboratory or the military testing facility. They're available on nearly every store shelf across the world for prices that consumers can readily afford and they just keep getting better.

One area of interest is the portability of modern technology. Items such as USB flash drives, memory cards and sticks, mp3 players and other such pocket sized or smaller items can transport quantities of data that were unimaginable just a few years ago.

A quick perusal of Technology articles in any magazine will show more and smaller devices for storing, transporting, and sharing data. It is simple to clip a thumb drive to your key chain and carry with you the equivalent of several volumes of paper photo albums or scrapbooks for example, or an entire library of music CDs.

Connectivity is an important factor in advancing technology. The idea that people across the world can not only share information and talk to each other, but be actively involved in project collaboration, fact checking for journalism, and become engaged in the political affairs of each others countries' is astounding.

There is hardly a place on earth now that does not have access to the Internet, thanks to satellites hovering above the earth's atmosphere. This availability has meant that many of the products created today are done so with more of a global audience in mind than just a local audience. People can contact each other from just about any location in the World.

Often people debate about whether we are overly dependent upon these new technologies. There is no doubt that they have enhanced lives around the world, giving people ready access to information and individuals.

Something new can always be discovered in the technological world. Numerous articles and resources can be found across the Internet, magazines, and books, to interest anyone about modern advancement in technology. It is amazing to see the innovation of the inventors around the world creating new things.
