Your Dog is Your Best Friend!

That should work both ways. That unconditional love from your pet should be returned. We should be our dogs' best friend. Our dogs deserve the very best care that we can offer. So, I've done some research, and this is what I've found.

Most store bought dog food is full of pesticides and fertilizers. Many chemicals, that have been banned from human consumption , find their way into dog food. Since there is little regulation of dog food processing, your regular dog food is probably toxic.Consumption of these toxic chemicals can lead to many devastating diseases, such as cancer, leukemia, failure of major organs, dementia, skin irritations, diarrhea, and so much more.

No one, your pet included, can behave well when they feel lousy!The best way to help your dog feel healthy is to stop feeding them toxic food. So, how about cooking for your dog. That way you can be sure of what is being eatten. If you cook a big batch of dog food, and freeze part of it, you can save time and lots of money.

But be aware that different dogs have different needs. Puppies have different nutritional needs from working and older dogs.

Once your friend is healthy, again, you can begin to modify your dogs behavior with knowledgeable training. Be patient and persistent. Like children, all dogs need to know their boundries. Consistencey in all training, on your part, will help to avoid any confusion your pet may have.

Above all, your dog, your friend, needs your love. Don't underestimate your effect on your dogs mental stability. Having good food, fresh water and a safe place to sleep are great, but all dogs need to feel loved. If you give love, you will get love.

Prevention, dedication, and love can do wonders for your dog's physical and emotional health, and save some money, too. You will reduce the number of visits to the veterinarian's office, by taking the best care you can of your dog at home.

Remember to include all neccessary vacinations and spaying / neutering. In return for your efforts,you will continue to receive all of that unconditional love for a whole lot longer.

I have found several web sites that have detailed information on home cooked dog food and nutritional reguirements. I've also found some information about obedience and medical needs. You can even become your pet's EMT caregiver.

Find time to have fun, too. Playing catch or tag, or going for a walk will be good for both of you. Isn't fun what having a dog is all about?
